The concept of the Children's Toy Build Off(CTBO) is simple: take different children's toys and build something fun. While not technically a contest, we envision the CTBO as a rotating 'competition' where build teams take turns trying to out do one another.

Rules:

  • Build 'teams' can be flexible. Defections from one team to another are encouraged.
  • Building should be confined to the second floor hallway to keep construction out of the high traffic areas of the first floor.
    • Because people will be sleeping on the second floor, building should be confined to time periods when people are not sleeping or napping.
  • Teams may use any toy in the house.
    • Toys belong to Sophus Alexander, however, and he is allowed to reclaim them at anytime. So be prepared to be flexible in your designs, figure out how to convince him to help, or pray he is distracted by something else.
    • Gluing toys together or damaging toys is not allowed.
    • Taping or otherwise holding things together in a nondestructive manner is allowed.
    • In addition to toys, teams my use paper, string, elastic bands, and other 'art project' supplies one would expect a young child to have access to.
    • Did I mention no glue? No glue.
    • Ring stands and associated hardware (like what you would find in a chemistry lab) are allowed.
  • Builds should be left intact until the next team begins, or until an act of Sophus occurs.
  • Kelly and Sean may build something. Since they have far more experience, they would not do so until after teams have a chance to get acquainted with their materials by building some things first.
