Whistling past the sun's graveyard

For the past few years, a number of people got together to stream over 24hrs of music. It'd be nice to do it again.

What the fuck is local solstice vs global solstice? Solstice is currently calculated as an event that happens once on the planet. I am not math, so I took the UTC time from sunrise to solstice and used that interval to come up with "local solstice." I'm sure there is a better way to calculate this.

Math is hard. If someone wants to check/improve my local solstice calcs, please do so.
